So here are a couple of shots of the quilt as I am working on it. One was taken without a flash (shows colors better) and the other with. It is lying on the couch so that accounts for the distortion.
This weekend I have been working on a quilt for our guild's challenge - Sunshine & Sisterhood. I am so pleased with it. I will tell you that I am using pictures of my two daughters and creating appliqué's of each of them in fabric (not photo printed on fabric). I have finished Nicole & the face, which I inked & chalked in on fabric looks so real. I can't believe it. I tried Vicki's yesterday but I couldn't get the scale to be right with Nicole's so I have to redo it, but the face, when I inked it looked just like her too. This from someone who is not a sketch artist. Hooray!
Anyway, it is going to be so cute. I wrote a poem to go with it and I am laying it out like a scrapbook page.
One thing I didn't do, but I did start, was something I begged to do so I need to get it done TONIGHT. That is an appliqué of Tara from Gone With the Wind for a lady in the guild who is making a quilt for a library. I wasn't going to do raw edge but the pieces are so small I am not good enough to turn the edges under. So anyway, I have to turn it in tomorrow night so I had better get busy.
Alright - just wanted to check in and let you know what was up. Of course I know that YOU aren't reading my blog, but that is ok. I am writing to an invisible you, as always.
Oh, one other thing, this has nothing to do with anyone but me, but I wanted to write it down. When I was a teenager, as an only child, I made up a brother. Rick Klein who lived in LA. He was older than me. There is a guy on Fox News (which I am addicted to and listen to all the time while sewing) and his name is Rick Klein. I always get a little happy when I hear his name, because Rick was "my big brother" and he always will be. See, I told you it was silly.
Peace - Karrel
